While in DC for the weekend I also got to see the MLK Memorial.

Good Stuff and Goal Making

Before boarding my train back to NYC, Allie, Rebekah, Kim and I went to Good Stuff for some delicious burgers. It's one of my favorite places to eat in DC and it definitely hit the spot! 

Over dinner we made plans to see each other again in December. This time they are going to head north. (NYC at Christmas time?...for sure!) We each set three goals that we are going to work on over the next two months. It's nice to have friends who motivate you and it's also nice to have friends that you know will love you no matter what. Here's to goal making (and keeping)!

*I didn't get a photo but before going to Good Stuff I got to spend Monday morning with Chad and Milan. They also had Columbus Day off, and it was great to catch up with them! I even got to try Milan's famous homemade biscuits. You read that right: homemade. I was so impressed, and they were delicious! Thanks for letting me crash the party Chad and Milan!

The Apple Orchard Miracle!

After meeting Allie for lunch in Georgetown, I spent the afternoon studying in Starbucks. I took a study break when Amy came to visit and it was great catching up with her. Then Kim picked me and Allie up and we headed back to their apartment to get ready for Charlottesville! Once Jamie was finished with work we got in the car and started our drive. There was traffic, so we decided to stop and get dinner on our way. Luckily we were close to the Cafe Rio that just opened up in Manassas. A dream come true! We made it to Charlottesville and got to spend time with a lot of our friends that are in law school: Joe, David, and Steve. The next morning we woke up bright and early. We got bagels and headed up Carter Mountain for an Apple Festival. The festival was everything I had dreamed it would be! Apple picking, apple slushies, apple donuts, apple pie, apple cider, etc. It was a beautiful day and a very nice break from the city. Pictures as proof:

And now... THE KEYS!

Our morning was going perfectly well, when half way through David realized he had dropped his keys in the orchard! He drove, so that meant Kim, Allie, Jamie, David and I were all stuck on Carter Mountain until further notice. He thought he would be able to easily trace our marks and find them. Wrong. We've decided an apple orchard might be one of the worst places possible to loose keys. Especially during the apple festival when there are hundreds (maybe even thousands) of people and apples dropping everywhere. After we had all been looking for about an hour and a half, Kim left with her cousins Jon and Amy so that worse case scenario, we would all at least have a way to get home. (Kim was going to go down with them and get her car and then come back up and get us.) So Kim left and David, Jamie, Allie, and I continued looking for keys for another hour! Just when we were about to give up- HE FOUND THEM! An apple orchard miracle! We decided the lesson to be learned was: When you're about to give up, keep on going! So, 2 1/2 hours later, we had our keys and were on our way down the mountain to meet Kim. It was a good thing Kim didn't have to come back up and get us- the traffic had gotten terrible. This apple festival was a big deal! It was all worth it for the delicious apples and the amazing apple slushie!

Fall Cupcakes

Allie asked me at just the right moment last week if I wanted to go down to DC for the weekend. (I had just received an e-mail from my professor saying that clinic assignments had been postponed to the following week!) I didn't think I was going to make it down to DC this fall, so I was thrilled that it all worked out! After waking up really early to catch my train, I arrived in DC and met Allie for lunch in Georgetown. Naturally, we stopped in Georgetown Cupcake for some fall pumpkin cupcakes. A great way to start our perfect fall weekend!

I've been feeling a bit gloomy lately. I can't exactly figure out why. 

Either way, over the past week things have definitely been looking up! 

10 things that made me happy:

1- FINALLY having cooler fall weather! I love pulling out my jackets and sweaters!

2- A visit from ALL of the Hill girls!

3- President Uchtdorf's talk at the Relief Society conference.

4- General conference all weekend!

5- I made these awesome glittery pumpkins tonight! I've been anticipating this craft for months, and they turned out exactly as I had hoped!

6- The realization today that in only 28 more days I can start listening to Christmas music!

7- The pumpkin candle that has been burning in my kitchen.

8- Only about a month until Brad and Lindsey get married! I can't wait.

9- Modern Family. (the only show I allow myself to follow during the school year)

10- Fall baking: cinnamon and orange rolls, autumnal cake, spice cookies, and fresh peach dessert!

After running in the park, I walked -exhausted and red-faced-
back to my apartment.

Def Leppard

Are you as surprised as everyone else that I went to a Def Leppard concert?

Katie and I didn't quite fit in, but it was still a great night! We had a ton of fun and went with people who did fit in. (Enter Devin and Judd with their rolled up/cut off jeans, t-shirts, bandannas, and of course Judd's stache.)
