College Roommate Reunion!

 Matching sweaters.
Katie, Kim, Hadley, and I all have birthdays in July so we celebrated with cake and ice cream!
 Sarah, Kim, Katie, Maryella, Amber
In college I had the most amazing roommates, who also became my best friends. We always talked about getting together for reunions. This was the first time it actually happened. We've all gotten to see each other on different occasions, but this time we had (almost) everyone together at once! (Melissa stayed in North Carolina with her boys, but we did get to video chat with her for a bit, so it felt like she was there!) It was amazing that we could all be together and the next morning we got to enjoy Brother Powers famous pancakes!

DC with Chels and Kels

After Chelsea was with me for a week in NYC I finished my first summer semester and had a week off of school. Together we drove down to DC and had a great week! Kelsey was in town, and she and Chelsea took DC by storm! They took about a million pictures together. It was so fun spending time in DC and getting to see so many friends!

Chelsea in NYC

 Welcome to NYC Chelsea!

 The Alexander McQueen Exhibit.

It was amazing! Glad we went when we did, it was packed the rest of the summer!

How to Succeed in Business. So great!

 A visit to campus.

Hanging in Harlem.

Before Chelsea started her internship in DC, she came and spent a week in NYC!

We had a lot of fun and it was great to have her here.

Productive Day

Without further ado, I can officially call NYC home.
(Well technically I still have to drive my car back to CT and then I will come back tomorrow to spend the night)
My stuff is all moved in, and it really feels like my little piece of home in such a big city.

I woke up early this morning and finished loading my car. It was raining, which caused a few delays. Once I was all loaded I hit the road, and actually made really good timing! Right up until I hit the bridge to get me on Manhattan. There was a huge accident and lots of emergency vehicles speeding past. I was at a stand still for about five minutes. Luckily I was at the start of the traffic and as soon as I got past the accident it was smooth sailing.

I got to my apartment and was greeted by Molly, Chad, and Milan. It was such a relief to see all of them. I found a great parking spot just up the street and the unloading began. After our first load we found Maryella and Jeff and with about two more loads each we had everything moved in. Thank goodness for friends. It would have taken me hours by myself. I said goodbye to everyone except Molly, who hung around for a bit longer. We chatted and I began to unpack. She took off to meet her friend, and now only a few hours later and everything is settled. It will be nice to come back tomorrow and have everything ready and set up.

So... this is where I get to call home for the next year.

I've had a twin sized bed since I graduated from high school. Who knew New York would be my chance for an upgrade.

 Tiny Closet
 Actually fits quite a bit.
Don't worry though. I also get a closet in the hallway.
 Familiar looking dresser?
The girl who lived here before me had the exact same one that I had in DC.
 Entry hallway keep going and...
...you come to my bedroom on the right.
(Don't mind the stuff in the hallway, it won't normally be there)
Further down is the bathroom, kitchen, living room, and then my roommates room on the end.
Her name is also Amber, which should make for some fun!
Not too bad for New York, right?
Why don't you come see for yourself?

1 AM and I'm Ready to Roll

For some reason some of my most productive hours are often late at night. Luckily, I also have productive hours early in the morning. It's those in-the-middle-of-the-day hours that I struggle with.

I have officially finished my first exam and I am currently finishing up my second (right on time with my productive late evening hours). To be honest at the start of the week I was wondering why I had gotten myself into this mess again. But oh the joyous feeling of finishing an exam! I can't wait for tomorrow when I can relax knowing that the exams are over. That is until I have to quickly get back on task to start reading and studying for the next one. Man, summer semesters go by fast!

I've been enjoying my classes and learning some pretty great things. I'll share soon. Maybe during tomorrow nights productive hours? Until then I've got to focus in on this exam.

Only 11 more months of exam taking.... I can do this.

Cutco?

Would you rather
have a good set of knives
or a king size bed?

I will never live down this poorly stated comment.

For the records, I would take the king size bed.

(But only because I've been promised one good knife!)

PROM

The Quinn Family has been nice enough to let me stay at their home in CT. I will be here for about 2 more weeks until I can officially move into my apartment in Harlem. Yes, Harlem.

You'd think my time at the Quinn's couldn't possibly get better. But then Natalie asked me to go to Prom with her.

Did anyone else see that movie? Ridiculous.

Favorite moment in the movie: When a boy throws a rock at a girls window but the window was actually open, so the rock went through the window and almost hit the girl.

With so many classic moments in the movie, it was actually hard to choose just one.

I would recommend getting it at red box, and be sure to talk about all of your high school prom memories.  It will turn out to be quite an evening.
